Southmedic announces distribution of Integrated Viral Protection (IVP) in Canada

May 10th, 2021

Barrie, ON – Southmedic Inc., one of the largest medical device manufacturers and suppliers in Canada, is pleased to announce a commercial agreement with Texas-based Integrated Viral Protection (IVP) to act as their distributor in Canada.

IVP has developed the world’s first and only biodefense air filtration system proven to ‘Catch and Kill’ viruses of all species, including COVID-19 (99.999%) and Anthrax spores (99.98%) in a single pass, without heating ambient air. The company has a global patent pending and is FDA compliant to enforcement policy for Sterilizers, Disinfectant Devices and Air Purifiers during the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Public Health Emergency.

Ken Noseworthy, Southmedic’s Chief Technology Officer and Sr. Vice President of Sales, states “the introduction of the IVP technology to Canada is a game changer in the fight to return businesses, schools, medical clinics, and hospitals back to a sustained resemblance of normal.”

IVP Technology

The IVP Biodefense Indoor Air Protection System™ uses a heated filter using a metal mesh foam to ‘Catch and Kill’ viruses of all species, along with other air pollutants, such as allergens and molds. This heated filtration system is the first to show actual SARS-CoV-2 to be destroyed instantly in a single pass, without heating ambient air.

HEPA, UV, PECO or oxidative technologies that make claims of mitigating airborne transmission are not effective in immediately clearing coronavirus or other biological species. These options are expensive and require a greater exposure time to be effective, which causes more of a risk when circulating air.

IVP patent pending technology targets air transmission to eliminate the virus, disinfect the air and reduce a buildings reliance of outside air mix. In so doing, recirculating clean fresh, viral-free air helps conserve energy.

This technology is available in various sizes to provide users peace of mind in any indoor environment.

About Integrated Viral Protection (IVP)

Integrated Viral Protection Solutions, LP (IVP) was created by Monzer Hourani in April 2020, to respond to the COVID-19 global pandemic and to foster research, development, and deployment of technologies that offer biodefense solutions to mitigate transmission of biological threats in indoor environments. At the heart of this award-winning biodefense design is a proprietary heated mesh that works in conjunction with legacy air filtration found in HVAC systems. The resulting suite of products will offer proven in-line mitigation for the airborne transmission of COVID-19 indoors. This technology has been recognized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a top innovation of 2020 for fighting COVID-19, and Hourani is recognized by Engineering News-Record as a top newsmaker.

The Biodefense Indoor Air Protection System is first line prevention technology against environmentally (airborne) mediated transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). The heated biodefense filter can be retrofitted into commercial and home HVAC systems and/or deployed as a mobile unit equipped with powerful filtration capability.
