Good day potential candidates!
Thank you for considering Southmedic as your next place of employment.
During these unprecedented times, Southmedic has put many safeguards in place to ensure the health of our employees during the current COVID-19 pandemic, as we have been deemed an Essential Service to provide the essential respiratory delivery systems, PPE for front line workers, and other medical devices to those that need it most.
At Southmedic, we quickly activated a response plan that follows all guidelines provided by the Simcoe Muskoka District Public Health Unit, Ontario Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. We have restricted any business travel and enabled office and field-based employees to work from home.
All employees remaining at our production location are required to wear a Bettershield (a face shield we produce) while working. This provides you with your own personal barrier, as we may not always be able to provide a full 2 meters of space between workers due to limitations of our manufacturing processes. The only location that Bettershields do not have to be worn is in the lunchroom, where sneeze guard barriers have been put in place. All associates are strongly encouraged to sit behind a barrier and space themselves out amongst the limited chairs and tables in the lunchroom. We have also modified our break schedule to decrease the numbers of people going to common spaces at any given time.
All employees must also ensure that they are washing their hands often, especially after touching their face or coughing/sneezing into a tissue, with soap and water for at least 15 seconds, or with hand sanitizer.
We have increased our high touch cleaning, particularly door handles, taps, toilets, countertops and lunchroom tables and chairs, with strong disinfecting cleansers.
Southmedic is also very fortunate to have access to a RD UVC Steriliz disinfection device that provides a specific dose of ultraviolet light that targets harmful pathogens in any room to significantly reduce the presence of viral/bacterial pathogens within our workplace. We have regularly been using this technology in our lunchroom, washrooms, assembly and molding rooms, the Quality lab and all other common spaces (including boardrooms) to ensure a heightened level of cleaning and disinfection.
All of our efforts have been successful in allowing us to keep our employee illness ratios down to a minimum and receive verbal commendations from the City of Barrie and a Ministry of Labour Inspector, as we take the necessary steps to ensure the health and welfare of our employees and thus our business, during this COVID-19 pandemic.
